Jomama Jones returns to the theater for a new play by Daniel Alexander Jones.
Soho Rep. has announced two world premieres for its 2016-17 season.
Returning to Soho Rep., Jomama Jones (Radiate) will open the season in the world premiere of Duat, written by Daniel Alexander Jones. Performances will run at the Connelly Theater from October 11-November 6, with an official October 23 opening. Developed with and directed by Will Davis, Duat will additionally feature Jacques Colimon, Tenzin Gund-Morrow, Toussaint Jeanlouis, Daniel Alexander Jones, Stacey Karen Robinson, and Kaneza Schaal.
The next production will be the world-premiere Soho Rep. commission of Samara, written by Richard Maxwell (Cavemen, Cowboys and Indians) and directed by Artistic Director Sarah Benson. Samara features original music by Steve Earle, who will also perform in the piece alongside Becca Blackwell, Vinie Burrows, Roy Faudree, Modesto Flako Jimenez, and Paul Lazar. The production is presented in association with John Adrian Selzer. Performances will run from April 4-May 7, 2017 with an official April 16 opening.
In January 2017, audiences will also be invited to open rehearsals of a new play written by Jackie Sibblies Drury and directed by Sarah Benson. The piece has been commissioned by Soho Rep. and Berkeley Repertory Theatre and explores surveillance and interrogation techniques during war and peacetime at home and abroad.
