Cariani replaces Justin Hagan, who has temporarily left the production due to injury.
John Cariani, star of the upcoming Broadway musical Something Rotten!, will temporarily join the cast of his newest play, Love/Sick, replacing injured cast member Justin Hagan until he is able to return to the production. The production is being presented by Royal Family Productions at Royal Family Performing Arts Space, beginning February 6 with an opening on February 9.
Love/Sick is Cariani’s follow-up to the play Almost, Maine. The show's nine slightly twisted and completely hilarious short plays are set on a Friday night in an alternate suburban reality and explore the pain and the joy that comes with being in love.
It is directed by Chris Henry with movement by JoAnn M. Hunter, original music and lyrics by Bart Kuebler, Chris Henry, and Lars Jacobsen with arrangements by Bart Kuebler. The creative team includes Shannon Rednour (sets), Lux Haac (costumes), Lucrecia Briceno (lights), and Danny Erdberg (sound).
Cariani's new role means he will spend his days rehearsing Something Rotten! and at night will star in Love/Sick. He joins cast members Simone Harrison, Dee Roscioli, and Debargo Sanyal. Dancers will include Jenn Aédo, Rachel Geisler, Stephanie Israelson, Jolina Javier, and Schuyler Midgett.
