Oscar winner and Spring Awakening star Marlee Matlin celebrated her Broadway debut on Tuesday, November 24 by receiving a portrait at the famed theater-district eatery Sardi's.
Matlin earned both a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Drama and an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Children of a Lesser God (1986), making her the only deaf performer to ever win an Oscar. She has also earned four Emmy nominations and is a prominent member of the National Association of the Deaf. Her television credits include Seinfeld, The West Wing, Picket Fences, The Practice, Switched at Birth, and season six of Dancing With the Stars.
Matlin is featured in a cast that includes Robert Ariza, Miles Barbee, Katie Boeck, Alex Boniello, Joshua Castille, Lizzy Cuesta, Daniel N. Durant, Treshelle Edmond, Sandra Mae Frank, Kathryn Gallagher, Sean Grandillo, Elizabeth Greene, Russell Harvard, Amelia Hensley, Van Hughes, Lauren Luiz, Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Camryn Manheim, Daniel Marmion, Austin P.
