The Lisa D’Amour play is set to land on the Great White Way next year.
Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company has announced casting for Pulitzer Prize finalist Lisa D'Amour's Airline Highway, which is set to play on Broadway at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in 2015. The production will run at Steppenwolf from December 4-February 8.
The newly announced cast will feature Robert Breuler, K. Todd Freeman, Carolyn Braver, Chris Daley, Stephen Louis Grush, Terry Hamilton, Judith Ivey, Scott Jaeck, Toni Martin, Caroline Neff, Tim Edward Rhoze, Judith Roberts, Brenann Stacker, Gordon Joseph Weiss, and Jacqueline Williams.
Directed by two-time Tony winner Joe Mantello, Airline Highway follows a ragtag group of strippers, hustlers, and philosophers who have gathered at a once-glamorous New Orleans motel to celebrate the life of Miss Ruby, an iconic burlesque performer who has requested a pre-mortem funeral. The show is described as an "ode to the outcasts that make life a little more interesting."
Performances at the Friedman are scheduled to begin April 1 in advance of an April 23 opening. The production joins Donald Margulies' The Country House and Nick Payne's Constellations as the third of MTC's 2014-15 Broadway offerings.
