Steppenwolf Tickets for 2013-14 Productions Now on Sale; Tony Winners Amy Morton and Pam MacKinnon Direct World Premiere Productions

Tickets are now on sale to all of Steppenwolf Theatre Company's remaining 2013-14 subscription and young-adult season productions.

The company is currently performing Zinnie Harris' play of magical realism, The Wheel, scheduled to run through November 10. Following The Wheel will be the Chicago premiere of Tribes, written by Nina Raine and directed by ensemble member Austin Pendleton. The play follows a deaf character named Billy and his eccentric English family. When Billy meets his girlfriend, Sylvia, he joins a larger deaf community, sparking a newfound rebellion and a quest for self-identity. The cast will feature ensemble members Alana Arenas, Francis Guinan, and Molly Regan and is scheduled to run from December 5-February 9, 2014, in the Downstairs Theatre.

The Chicago premiere of Erika Sheffer's Russian Transport, a family drama about the American immigrant experience, will then run from February 6-May 11, 2014, in the Upstairs Theatre. Yasen Peyankov directs a cast featuring ensemble members Tim Hopper, Mariann Mayberry, and Alan Wilder.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults will present Leveling Up by Deborah Zoe Laufer, scheduled to run from February 26-March 15, 2014, in the Downstairs Theatre. Directed by Hallie Gordon, the play offers a contemporary look at the boundary between reality and the virtual world of video games, and explores what it means to grow up.

Two world premieres close out the season, beginning with Mona Mansour's The Way West, directed by two-time Tony nominee Amy Morton (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?). Set in a run-down, modern-day California town, a mother exudes an all-American frontier spirit. She shares death-defying tales of pioneer crossings with her two bickering adult daughters as she waits for her bankruptcy to come through. The production will run from April 3-June 8, 2014, in the Downstairs Theatre.

The world premiere of The Qualms, written by Pulitzer Prize winner Bruce Norris (Clybourne Park), will close the season with a run from July 3-August 31, 2014, in the Downstairs Theatre. As Chris and Kristy attempt to join a group of partner-swapping friends, a territorial battle over mating privileges ensues, raising questions about relationships, sex, and the purpose of monogamy. Tony winner Pam MacKinnon (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) will direct.
