Broadway’s official poker tournament takes place May 14.
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS has announced the player list for this year's poker tournament Broadway Bets, to take place Monday, May 14, at Sardi's Restaurant.
Among the actors expected to ante up are last year's Broadway Bets finalist Steve Martin (Meteor Shower), writer and performer Eric Bogosian (Talk Radio), 2018 Tony Award nominee Michael Cera (Lobby Hero), Tony winner Billy Crudup (Harry Clarke), Tony nominee Richard Kind (Mad About You), and Tony nominee Tony Yazbeck (The Beast in the Jungle).
Produced by and benefiting BC/EFA, Broadway Bets gives the theater community an opportunity to play in a friendly Texas hold 'em tournament. Everybody is welcome and anyone can win. Prizes will be awarded to players who make the final table. Doors for Broadway Bets open for cocktails at 7:30pm; tournament play begins at 8pm. All ticketing levels include hors d'oeuvres and an open bar.
Paul Libin, president emeritus of the BC/EFA board of trustees and recently retired executive vice president of Jujamcyn Theaters, and Robert E. Wankel, president and co-CEO of the Shubert Organization and president of the Broadway Cares board of trustees, serve as founding cochairs. Micah Hollingworth of Jujamcyn Theaters, Mark Shacket of Foresight Theatrical, and Brett Sirota of the Road Company will return as tournament directors.
Last year's tournament raised $286,900 as Broadway fan Ken Ruck bested actor, writer, and musician Steve Martin and fellow fan Joan Siegel to win the title of Broadway Bets champion.
