The Grammy winner will perform at the uniquely intimate Heath at the McKittrick Hotel to benefit The Actors Fund.
Sixteen-time Grammy Award winner Sting will toast his 2015 Best Score Tony nomination with a pair of concerts featuring songs from his musical The Last Ship at the Heath at The McKittrick Hotel. Proceeds from the Tuesday, May 19 shows will benefit The Actors Fund.
Doors will open for the shows at 7pm and 10pm. Sting will be joined by his Last Ship costar Jimmy Nail and the show's band members Rob Mathes (musical director, piano), Joe Bonadio (percussion), Chris Layer (wind instruments), Mick McAuley (accordion), Paul Woodiel (fiddle), and Pete Donovan (bass), with Jo Lawry on vocals.
Inspired by Sting's youth, the musical tells the story of Gideon Fletcher, a young man from the English seafaring town of Wallsend, who leaves his life behind to travel the world — only to return a decade later to find out that what he deserted is more than he ever could have imagined.
The Last Ship, under the direction of Joe Mantello, began previews September 30, 2014, opened October 26, and closed January 24, 2015 at the Neil Simon Theatre. The principal Broadway cast included Michael Esper, Rachel Tucker, Fred Applegate, Aaron Lazar, Sally Ann Triplett, and Collin Kelly-Sordelet.
