Sixteen-time Grammy Award winner Sting’s Broadway-bound musical, The Last Ship, has announced plans to sail onto the Great White Way in fall 2014. Before its New York arrival, the production will offer a pre-Broadway world premiere run at Chicago’s Bank of America Theatre from June 10-July 13, 2014.

Incorporating biographical elements from Sting’s own life, The Last Ship centers on Gideon, a 30-something man who returns to his home in Newcastle, England. The musical features direction by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello (Wicked), a book by Tony Award winner John Logan (Red) and Pulitzer Prize and Tony winner Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal), and choreography by Oliver Award winner and Tony Award nominee Steven Hoggett (Once).

“The memories at the heart of The Last Ship have occupied my mind for most of my life,” said Sting. “I was compelled to tell this story, and I’ve had the great fortune of collaborating with an enormously talented team.”
