Stroman won a Tony for choreographing the musical’s original production.
The Tony-winning Gershwin musical Crazy for You will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a concert staging of the show at David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center on February 19, 2017. It will be presented by Manhattan Concert Productions, which in the past has produced similar mountings of Titanic, Ragtime, Parade, and The Secret Garden.
Susan Stroman, who received a Tony Award for choreographing the original Broadway production of Crazy for You, will repeat her work and also direct. The musical, inspired by the 1930 musical Girl Crazy by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin, features a book by Ken Ludwig.
The romantic comedy follows Bobby Child, a banker who dreams of dancing in the follies. When he's sent to foreclose on a rundown theater in Nevada, he meets Polly Baker, the daughter of the theater's owner, who has vowed to get even. Harry Groener and Jodi Benson led the cast of the original production.
Full casting for the concert will be announced in the coming months.
