The stars of the new musical Invisible Thread offered a preview of the show to the Broadway press corps on Friday, October 23. Written by Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews’, the Diane Paulus-directed production runs October 31-December 27 at Second Stage Theatre.
Formerly titled Witness Uganda, the production had its world premiere at American Repertory Theater in February 2014. Inspired by a true story, the show follows a young New York City man named Griffin who volunteers for a project in Uganda. The new musical addresses the challenges confronted by American aid workers around the world.
Cocreator Matthews is joined in the company by Melody Betts (Chicago PD), Rodrick Covington (Central Avenue Breakdown), Kevin Curtis (A Chorus Line), Tyrone Davis Jr. (Shrek), Nkrumah Gatling (Hair), Latrisa Harper (The Color Purple), Jason Herbert (Fela!), Aisha Jackson (Beautiful — The Carole King Musical), Kristolyn Lloyd (Heathers The Musical), Michael Lluwoye (Fable), Corey Mach (Hands on a Hardbody), Tiffany Mann (Sweeney Todd), Jeremy Pope (Choir Boy), Jamard Richardson (The Book of Mormon), Nicolette Robinson (Brooklynite), Adeola Role (Lily’s Revenge), Conor Ryan (Cinderella), and Jamar Williams (Broken Window Theory).
