The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, the 1978 Broadway musical with great songs by Carol Hall and a funny, sexy, but not salacious book by Larry L. King and Peter Masterson, will be given a staged concert presentation by The Actors’ Fund of America on Monday, October 16 at the August Wilson Theatre. Emily Skinner, Terrence Mann, Felicia Finley, Bob Martin, and Harry Groener are among the stars. Some of the leads and the show’s red-hot ensemble members were on hand for a press preview on October 10; here’s Skinner as Miss Mona Stangley, surrounded by the girls of the “Chicken Ranch.”
Here’s Avenue Q star Mary Faber as “Shy,” a newcomer to the Chicken Ranch, being given the lowdown on the establishment by Miss Mona.
Whorehouse‘s opening number, “A L’il Bitty Pissant Country Place,” is sure to heat up the theater.
The one-and-only Andrea McArdle treated the press to a stirring rendition of “Doatsy Mae,” her solo song in the show.
The men who play the Texas Aggies football team tore the roof off with their big number, “The Aggie Song” — which starts in a locker room!
Posing here with the guys is Constantine Maroulis (top row center), currently starring in Broadway’s The Wedding Singer, who has a solo spot in the Aggie number.
