The ins and outs of creating an original cast album are discussed on the podcast’s latest installment.
Original cast recordings are the subject of the latest episode of Mo Brady and Nikka Graff Lanzarone's podcast, The Ensemblist.
Broadway performers Jen Cody, Eddie Korbich, and Samantha Sturm describe the process of recording these theatrical albums, which help bring Broadway and off-Broadway musicals to audiences both before and after the shows have left the stage.
Cody can be heard on the original cast recordings for The Wild Party, Seussical, Taboo, The Pajama Game, and Shrek The Musical; Korbich is featured on the albums for Carousel, Seussical, The Drowsy Chaperone, The Little Mermaid, and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder; and Sturm has lent her vocals to the Broadway cast albums of The Addams Family, Nice Work If You Can Get It, and Matilda. The three veteran performers discuss everything from the technical aspects of the recording process to the poignant moments of hearing your voice in the finished product.
Episodes can be also be downloaded directly from Podbean at theensemblist.podbean.com.
