The Humans to End Year-Long Broadway Run

It was confirmed today that Stephen Karam's Tony-winning play The Humans will end its year-long Broadway run on January 15, 2017 at the Schoenfeld Theatre. It was previously announced that the show would play its final performance at the Schoenfeld on January 15, but was undetermined if the play would transfer to another theater. The Schoenfeld is the play's second Broadway home, having begun its run at the Helen Hayes following an off-Broadway run at Roundabout Theatre Company's Laura Pels Theatre.

Recipient of 2016 Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and New York Drama Critics Circle Awards, The Humans follows Erik (played by 2016 Tony winner Reed Birney), who has broken with tradition and brought his Pennsylvania family to celebrate Thanksgiving at his daughter's apartment in lower Manhattan. As darkness falls, family tensions reach a peak, and the heart and horrors of the clan are exposed. The company also includes 2016 Tony winner Jayne Houdyshell, Cassie Beck, Lauren Klein, Arian Moayed, and Sarah Steele.

In November, 2017, The Humans will kick off its coast-to-coast national tour at Seattle Repertory Theatre, before moving on to engagements in top markets across the United States. The tour will feature the entire creative team from the Broadway production, led by Tony Award-winning director Joe Mantello and including Tony Award-winning scenic designer David Zinn, costume designer Sarah Laux, lighting designer Justin Townsend, and sound designer Fitz Patton.
