Bellamy Young, Felicia Finley, and more reprise their Broadway performances.
On May 17, 54 Below will host two performances of 54 Sings The Life, at 7pm and 9:30pm.
The Life, a 1997 Broadway musical featuring music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Ira Gasman, played 466 performances at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre and earned a total of 13 Tony nominations.
The show explores the seedy underbelly of Times Square's 42nd Street, inhabited by pimps, prostitutes, drug dealers, and the like, prior to the era of Disneyfication. The Tony-nominated score features popular showtunes including "The Oldest Profession," "My Body," "People Magazine," and "My Friend."
Members of the original Broadway cast join the concert, including Bellamy Young, Felicia Finley, and Katy Grenfell. Tony nominee Charl Brown (Motown) and Telly Leung (Allegiance) will perform as well. Jesse Vargas serves as musical director.
