The free Public Works musical adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey begins performances tonight at the Delacorte Theater. Public Works director Lear deBessonet helms the production, which features music, lyrics, and book by Todd Almond.

Brandon Victor Dixon and Tony winner Karen Olivo star as Odysseus and Penelope, with Taran Killam (Saturday Night Live) as the Cyclops, Todd Almond (Iowa) as the Singer, and Lucas Caleb Rooney (Golden Boy) as Antinous. The equity actors perform alongside over 200 actors and community members who join the production that kicks off the Public Theater's 2015-16 season.

The Public Works event will run for four nights, from September 4-7, at the Delacorte Theater.
