From 1-4pm, The Amazing Max the magician will host the acts scheduled to appear on the TheaterMania stage including Broadway and opera baritone William Michals (Beauty and the Beast, Les Misérables), legendary singer Christine Lavin & Grammy winner Julie Gold, Opera on Tap, indie rock band Reserved for Rondee, as well as family offerings such as Literally Alive Children’s Theatre, Little Orchestra Society, TADA! Theater, and Rock Star Karaoke.
“We are thrilled to have TheaterMania back this year presenting major players from the New York theater scene,” said Nancy Ploeger, president of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce. “The TheaterMania Block serves to remind us of the cultural richness of our great city.”
Darren Sussman, president of TheaterMania, added, “TheaterMania’s mission is to give people of all ages and interests better access to theater and the performing arts. We’re bringing theater to the streets for free, and we hope that people will come out and help us celebrate with New York’s artistic community on September 8th.”
Shows and organizations set to participate in this year’s street fair include Annie, Atlantic Theater Company, Berenstain Bears LIVE!, Classic Stage Company, The Flea Theater, Mamma Mia!, New York Theatre Workshop, Newsies, Primary Stages, The Phantom of the Opera, Roundabout Theatre Company, and the Vineyard Theatre.
