This Weekend's Covid Cancellations: Hamilton, Mrs. Doubtfire, Moulin Rouge!, Christmas Spectacular

The following is an ongoing list of Covid-19-related cancelations of New York theater productions.

The producers of Moulin Rouge! The Musical have canceled Friday and Saturday’s performances due to the detection of positive Covid test results in the company. This is following a dramatic last-minute cancellation of last night’s performance, in which the already-seated audience was asked to leave the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. With no new cases detected, the show is expected to resume performances on Sunday, December 19 at 1:30pm.

Additionally, all of this season’s remaining performances of The Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes have been canceled due to breakthrough Covid cases in the production. Ticket-holders can get the latest updates about the Christmas Spectacular here.

MJ has canceled all performances through December 26. The show is planning to resume on December 27.

As previously reported, Hamilton will be dark tonight, and has now canceled performances through December 21, according to Ticketmaster. Tina and Mrs. Doubtfire will also be dark until December 21.

Jagged Little Pill canceled its Thursday evening performances, but it is presently scheduled to resume performances tonight (Friday, December 17 ).

Off-Broadway comedy The Alchemist played its final performance on Wednesday, December 15; it was originally scheduled to run through this weekend, but positive tests have scuttled that plan.

Hadestown has canceled its December 17 evening performance and December 18 matinee.

Off-Broadway’s Morning Sun and Broadway’s Aladdin have canceled their Sunday, December 19, performances. Morning Sun has now officially concluded its run. Aladdin is scheduled to resume performances on Tuesday, December 21, at 7pm.
