Broadway alums Zachary Levi, Laura Benanti, Jane Krakowski, and Gavin Creel celebrated their long-awaited returns to the Great White Way on March 17 as Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, and Joe Masteroff's She Loves Me opens at Studio 54.
The classic musical is inspired by Miklós László's play Parfumerie, which also served as the basis for the films The Shop Around the Corner and You've Got Mail. It tells the story of Amalia (Benanti) and Georg (Levi), a pair of perfume-shop coworkers who are engaged in a battle of wits and unknowingly become romantic pen pals.
In addition to Levi, Benanti, Krakowski, and Creel, She Loves Me features Michael McGrath, Nicholas Barasch, and Peter Bartlett. The ensemble is made up of Cameron Adams, Alison Cimmet, Justin Bowen, Preston Truman Boyd, Benjamin Eakeley, Sara Edwards, Michael Fatica, Gina Ferrall, Jenifer Foote, Andrew Kober, Laura Shoop, and Jim Walton.
The creative team includes David Rockwell (sets), Jeff Mahshie (costumes), Donald Holder (lights), Jon Weston (sound), Larry Hochman (orchestrations), and David Krane (dance arrangements and incidental music).
Guests at the opening-night festivities included Tina Fey (30 Rock), Sara Bareilles (Waitress), Neil Patrick Harris (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), David Burtka (It Shoulda Been You), Nathan Lane (It's Only a Play), and many more.
