Tom Kitt to Be Honored at Rockers on Broadway Benefit Concert

The Path Fund Inc. will present the 23rd annual Rockers on Broadway: American Rock & Roll concert on Monday, November 14, at (Le) Poisson Rouge. The charity event features Broadway’s best rockers performing classic American rock and roll to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and nonprofit performing arts education programs.

The program is described as follows: "Rock & Roll is as American as apple pie! It sent shockwaves across the country in the early '50s when a whole generation of rebellious teenagers ditched the music of their parents and moved to a whole new beat! Rockers on Broadway: American Rock & Roll will celebrate that bygone era when Elvis, Little Richard, and Buddy Holly ruled the airwaves and made the country shake, rattle, and roll! Nowadays our rockin' playlists include Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen, and many more American greats."

This year's event will honor Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Tom Kitt with the the Lifetime Achievement Award. Kitt received the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama as well as two Tony Awards for Best Score and Best Orchestrations for Next to Normal. He is also the composer of If/Then, High Fidelity, and Bring It On The Musical (cocomposer with Lin-Manuel Miranda). He also received an Emmy Award as cowriter (with Lin-Manuel Miranda) for the 2013 Tony Award opening number, "Bigger." Kitt's current musical projects include The SpongeBob Musical, Freaky Friday, and Magic Mike.
