Tony Nominee Justin Vivian Bond Brings a Tennessee Williams-Inspired Show to Joe's Pub

Tony-nominated performance artist and cabaret star Justin Vivian Bond returns to Joe's Pub at the Public Theater on March 13 with The Drift, a free-associative collage of spoken word and song. Bond will perform the show on six dates in March and April.

The Drift was inspired by Tennessee Williams' 1950 novella The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone, in which Karen Stone, a retired actress, drifts from one space to another through couture, bed, or her own mind. The show will premiere Bond's new original song, "Wild Card," and will feature other songs by Billy Strayhorn, Tim Buckley, Jeff Buckley, and Joni Mitchell — plus a few more of Bond's favorites.

Bond recently appeared off-Broadway as Widow Begbick in Classic Stage Company's production of Bertolt Brecht's A Man's a Man. Bond's cabaret show with Kenny Mellman, Kiki & Herb: Alive on Broadway, received a 2007 Tony Award nomination for Best Special Theatrical Event.

Bond has appeared in more than 70 shows at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater and has recorded the critically acclaimed records Dendrophile and Silver Wells. V (Bond's pronoun) aims to challenge the gender binary as well as gender conformity through performance art.
