Tony winner Tonya Pinkins, Amy Brenneman, and other theater veterans are also set to participate in the one-night-only benefit event.
Tony Award winner Alice Ripley (Next to Normal), Gina Gershon (Bye Bye Birdie), Henry Alford, Ilana Levine (My Name Is Asher Lev), and Sandra Santiago (Miami Vice) have joined the cast of I See You Made an Effort, a benefit event for Second Stage Theatre set for Monday, March 10.
In celebration of the theater's 35th anniversary, actress and writer Annabelle Gurwitch has adapted her upcoming book, I See You Made an Effort, for this one-night-only stage performance. The show explores the hazards of turning 50, "including outsourcing your endocrine system and falling in lust at the Genius bar." The coming-of-middle-age story offers an unflinching account of the many issues women can expect to encounter as they grow older.
In addition to the new cast members, Gurwitch will be joined onstage by previously announced performers Amy Brenneman, Judy Gold, Tony nominee Jessica Hecht, Tony winner Tonya Pinkins, and Annabella Sciorra. The Second Stage event will kick off a 10-city tour with author talks and performances scheduled in Chicago with comedian Julia Sweeney, in Los Angeles with Jane Kaczmarek (Malcolm in the Middle), and in Washington, D.C., with Barbara Ehrenreich (author of Nickel and Dimed), among others.
