Tony Winner Lillias White Takes to the York Theatre Main Stage for Its 45th Anniversary Season

The York Theatre Company has announced the lineup of productions set for its upcoming 45th anniversary season.

The company will present two off-Broadway premieres on its Main Stage, beginning with Texas in Paris, a world premiere musical play by Alan Govenar with spirituals, cowboy songs, and country hymns. Tony Award winner Lillias White (Fela!) will star in the production, set to run from January 27-March 1, 2015. The second Main Stage production will be the New York premiere of Harold and Maude, a new musical based on the cult film by Colin Higgins. Scheduled to run from May 12-June 14, 2015, the production features a book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Joseph Thalken.

The list of titles set for the 2014-15 Musicals in Mufti has been announced as well. The series will begin with John Weidman, Richard Maltby Jr., and David Shire's Big (October 11-12, October 15-19), followed by Gerald Freedman and John Morris' A Time for Singing (October 25-26, October 29-November 2), Julias J. Epstein, Philip G. Epstein, and Stephen Sondheim's Saturday Night (November 8-9, November 12-16), and Joseph Dougherty, Lynn Ahrens, and Stephen Flaherty's My Favorite Year (December 5-7). Ahrens and Flaherty, the Tony-winning composers behind Broadway's Ragtime, Once on This Island, and Rocky, will be honored at the York's annual Oscar Hammerstein Award Gala on November 24.

The season will also include a two-performance presentation of The Gift of Music, a concert tribute to Cantor and Broadway performer Larry Gilbert, on September 6 and 7. Written by Stephen Cole (Inventing Mary Martin), the show will be directed by Pamela Hunt with music direction by Michael Rice. The cast will feature George Dvorsky (Closer Than Ever), Marcie Henderson (Ragtime), and Quinn Lemley (Burlesque to Broadway).
