Bathing in Moonlight begins its world premiere run tonight at McCarter Theatre Center.

Nilo Cruz's new play tells the story of a priest torn between two loves. Marcela and her Cuban-American family are struggling, and Father Monroe offers them warmth and kindness. Generosity blossoms into love as the lines between vocation and passion begin to blur.

Tony winner Priscilla Lopez (A Day in Hollywood/A Night in Ukraine) stars as Martina alongside Raúl Méndez (in his American stage debut) as Father Monroe, Hannia Guillen (NBC's Passions) as Marcela, Katty Velasquez (Law and Order: SVU) as Trini, Frankie J. Alvarez (Othello) as Taviano Jr./Taviano Sr., and Michael Rudko (Romeo & Juliet) as Bishop Andrew. McCarter Theatre artistic director Emily Mann directs.

On once again collaborating with Nilo Cruz, Mann said, "This is one of Nilo's most enchanting plays. It's not only a beautiful love story, but also a story of family and faith written by one of the greatest poets of the American theater. I'm honored to have Nilo Cruz back at McCarter Theatre."

The creative team for Bathing in Moonlight includes scenic and lighting designer Edward Pierce, Tony Award-winning sound designer Darron L. West, and costume designer Jennifer von Mayrhauser.

Cruz won the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his play Anna in the Tropics, which Mann also directed.

Bathing in Moonlight will play through October 9.
