The McCarter Theatre production will also star Hannia Guillen and Raúl Méndez.
McCarter Theatre Center has announced casting for its upcoming world premiere of Nilo Cruz's Bathing in Moonlight. The production will run September 9-October 9 in McCarter’s Roger S. Berlind Theatre. McCarter Theatre Center artistic director Emily Mann will helm the show.
The cast of Bathing in Moonlight will include Frankie J. Alvarez (HBO’s Looking) as Taviano, Hannia Guillen (NBC’s Passions) as Marcela, Tony Award winner Priscilla Lopez (Pippin) as Martina, Michael Rudko (The Audience) as Bishop Andres, Katty Samara Velasquez as Trini, and Mexican actor Raúl Méndez, who will make his American stage debut as Father Monroe.
In Bathing in Moonlight, when Father Monroe discovers that Marcela and her Cuban-American family are struggling, he offers a warmth and kindness. As small
acts of generosity blossom into love, the lines between vocation and passion begin to blur.
With Bathing in Moonlight, Emily Mann and playwright Nilo Cruz reunite for the first
time since the Pulitzer Prize-winning Anna in the Tropics.
The show's creative team will include scenic and lighting designer Edward Pierce, sound designer Darron L. West, and costume designer Jennifer von Mayrhauser.
