New York Pops music director Steven Reineke led the event, ”Life Is a Cabaret”
The New York Pops' season continued on Friday, March 10, at Carnegie Hall with Life Is a Cabaret, in celebration of John Kander's birthday. New York Pops music director Steven Reineke led the event, which included special guests Tony Yazbeck and Caissie Levy.
John Kander is one half of the partnership known as Kander and Ebb. Together, John Kander and Fred Ebb created the beloved musicals Cabaret, Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and The Scottsboro Boys among others. Kander will celebrates his 90th birthday on March 18.
As previously announced, Yazbeck will be returning to Chicago in the role of Billy Flynn on March 14. Levy was most recently seen as Fantine in the Broadway revival of Les Misérables.
The New York Pops’ season continues with You’ve Got a Friend: A Celebration of Singers and Songwriters on Friday, April 21, at Carnegie Hall. The concert will pay tribute to the soundtrack of a generation, inspired by the music of James Taylor, Carole King, and more.
