John Doyle directs the revival production at Classic Stage Company.
Last night, Classic Stage Company opened the John Doyle-helmed revival of The Cradle Will Rock. Take a look at photos of the cast and their guests for the celebratory evening.
Written by Marc Blitzstein, The Cradle Will Rock takes place in Steeltown, USA, where laborer Larry Foreman struggles to unionize fellow steelworkers against mounting attacks from a greedy industrialist, a certain Mr. Mister. As a cross-section of society shows up in a night court, the extent to which Mr. Mister has bought the support and control of nearly all people — the editor of the local newspaper, the preacher, the doctor, artists — and institutions becomes brazenly apparent.
The cast features Tony Yazbeck as Larry Foreman and Lara Pulver as Moll, along with Ken Barnett as Editor Daily, Eddie Cooper as Junior Mister, Benjamin Eakeley as Reverend Salvation, Tony Award nominee David Garrison as Mr. Mister, Ian Lowe as Yasha, Kara Mikula as Sister Mister, Sally Ann Triplett as Mrs. Mister, and Rema Webb as Ella.
The Cradle Will Rock features set design by Doyle, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Jane Cox and Tess James, and music supervision by Greg Jarrett. Performances run through May 19 at Classic Stage Company.
