The Manhattan Concert Productions performance of The Scarlet Pimpernel took place on February 18. Gabriel Barre directed the one-night-only event at David Geffen Hall.
Tony Yazbeck starred in the role of Percy, with Laura Osnes as Marguerite, Norm Lewis as Chauvelin, Corey Cott as Armand, Dana Costello as Marie, and Drew Gehling as Prince of Wales/Robespierre.
They were joined by Ashley Blanchet, TyNia Brandon, Alysha Deslorieux, Kevin Duda, John Treacy Egan, Ashley Loren, Alex Newell, Eliseo Roman, Sara Sheperd, Yasmeen Sulieman, and Chris Dwan.
With music by Frank Wildhorn and lyrics and book by Nan Knighton, The Scarlet Pimpernel is based on Baroness Orczy's famous 20th-century novel of the same name. It tells the story of an English nobleman, Sir Percy Blakeney, who adopts a secret identity to battle the forces of evil during the Reign of Terror of the French Revolution.
The musical made its Broadway debut at the Minskoff Theatre on November 9, 1997, and ran through January 2, 2000, closing at the Neil Simon Theatre.
