The new musical is based on Ransdell Pierson’s biography of Leona Helmsley.
The Actors' Temple has announced plans to present two readings of the new musical Queen of Mean, starring Tony nominee Tovah Feldshuh (Pippin) as Leona Helmsley. Readings will take place April 4 at 7:30pm and April 7 at 7:30pm at The Actors' Temple Theatre.
Queen of Mean: The Rise and Fall of Leona Helmsley features a book by Alex Lippard and David Lee, lyrics by Lee, and music by Ron Passaro, with concept and additional lyrics by Alex Lippard. The musical is based on the New York Times-bestselling biography of Leona Helmsley by Ransdell Pierson.
In addition to Feldshuh, the cast will included Jennifer Allen (The Bridges of Madison County), Samia Mounts (BAM’s The Source), Soara-Joye Ross (Les Misérables), Danny Rutigliano (Born Yesterday), Mark Teich (Killer Joe), Frank Vlastnik (Big), Lenny Wolpe (Wicked), and Matt Wolpe (US tour of Once).
The show will be presented as part of Hot Nights @ A Cool Shul, a new series that seeks to stimulate dialogue about American and global Jewish culture through films, play readings, cabaret acts, musical performances, and panel discussions.
