The comic play starts performances at the Downstairs Theatre tonight.
Steppenwolf Theatre Company's production of The Herd begins tonight at its Downstairs Theatre. Olivier Award-winning actor Rory Kinnear's debut play revolves around the 21st birthday of Andy, who, along with his caregiver, is late to his own party. In the meantime, his family begins to gather. When two unexpected guests appear, things begin to break down. With a comic touch, Kinnear explores a suburban English family that is attempting to reposition itself to suit the needs of one of its members.
Written by Rory Kinnear and directed by Tony Award-winning director Frank Galati, the cast features Cliff Chamberlain, Audrey Francis, Francis Guinan, John Mahoney, Molly Regan, and Lois Smith.
The creative team includes Keith Parham (lighting design), Walt Spangler (set design), Nan Cibula-Jenkins (costume design), Josh Schmidt (sound design and composition), and Malcolm Ewen (stage manager).
Performances will run through June 7.
