The Vineyard’s Union Square space will be receiving facility upgrades.
Vineyard Theatre has announced that the musical comedy Gigantic, which has previously been announced to kick off the 2015-16 season, will be presented at the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row. The show was originally announced to play at the Vineyard's own Union Square space but has been moved because of facility upgrades happening at that location.
Running from November 11-December 20, with an official December 3 opening, Gigantic will be directed by Scott Schwartz. The musical features a book by Randy Blair and Tim Drucker, lyrics by Randy Blair, music by Matt roi Berger, and choreography by Chase Brock. The plot follows the experiences of misfit teens who have been sent to Camp Overton, the No. 3 weight-loss camp in Southern Pennsylvania. An earlier version of Gigantic was presented in development at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2009 with the title Fat Camp, where it received the "Best of Fest Award."
Gigantic will feature set design by Timothy R. Mackabee, costume design by Gregory Gale, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, and sound design by John Shivers and David Patridge. Cast is to be announced.
