Stars Christine Ebersole, Patti LuPone, and the cast toast the occasion.
War Paint celebrated its 100th performance on Broadway last night, Thursday, July 6, at the Nederlander Theatre, and stars Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole were on hand with the company to toast the occasion.
Inspired by Lindy Woodhead's book War Paint, as well as by Ann Carol Grossman and Arnie Reisman's PBS documentary The Powder & the Glory, the show examines the ascent and rivalry of cosmetics entrepreneurs Helena Rubenstein (LuPone) and Elizabeth Arden (Ebersole), whose 50-year tug-of-war gave birth to an industry.
Directed by Michael Greif and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, War Paint features a book by Doug Wright and score by Scott Frankel and Michael Korie.
The cast also includes Tony Award nominees John Dossett as Tommy Lewis (Arden's husband and chief marketing officer) and Douglas Sills as Harry Fleming (Rubinstein's clubby confidant and faithful ally).
