John Dossett and Douglas Sills will be joined by Erik Liberman, Steffanie Leigh, and more in the new musical.
Complete casting has been announced for the new musical War Paint, opening at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre this spring.
As previously announced, Tony Award winners Patti LuPone (Gypsy) and Christine Ebersole (Grey Gardens) will costar as cosmetics titans Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden, respectively. Inspired by Lindy Woodhead's book War Paint, as well as Ann Carol Grossman and Arnie Reisman's PBS documentary The Powder & the Glory, the show examines the ascent and rivalry of Rubenstein and Arden, whose 50-year tug-of-war gave birth to an industry.
John Dossett (Dear Evan Hansen) is set to play Arden's husband, Tommy Lewis, while Douglas Sills (Living on Love) will play Harry Fleming, Rubinstein's confidant. LuPone, Ebersole, Dossett, and Sills all reunite after originating their roles in the world-premiere production at Chicago's Goodman Theatre.
Joining the lead quartet will be Barbara Jo Bednarczuk, Patti Cohenour, Mary Ernster, Tom Galantich, David Girolmo, Joanna Glushak, Chris Hoch, Mary Claire King, Steffanie Leigh, Erik Liberman, Barbara Marineau, Donna Migliaccio, Stephanie Jae Park, Jennifer Rias, Angel Reda, and Tally Sessions.
Directed by Michael Greif and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, the production's creative team includes David Korins (set design), Catherine Zuber (costume design), Kenneth Posner (lighting design), Brian Ronan (sound design), Bruce Coughlin (orchestrations), and Lawrence Yurman (music director).
War Paint features a book by Doug Wright and score by Scott Frankel and Michael Korie, the team behind the musical Grey Gardens, in which Ebersole starred.
Performances are set to begin March 7 in advance of an April 6 opening.
