The social media campaign, organized by Tony nominee Rory O’Malley, is committed to encouraging more theater lovers to register and vote.
With the support of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and in partnership with the nonprofit When We All Vote, a host of Broadway stars, led by Book of Mormon and Hamilton Tony nominee Rory O'Malley, have come together to form #BeltTheVote, a nonpartisan social media campaign committed to encouraging all people to register and vote, most urgently in the next general election on November 6. During When We All Vote's National Week of Action, September 22-29, #BeltTheVote will coordinate voter-registration events in theaters and schools across the country.
As part of this campaign, #BelttheVote has released a video featuring Broadway stars including Andrew Rannells (Hamilton), Sara Bareilles (Waitress), Joshua Henry (Carousel), Katrina Lenk (The Band's Visit), George Salazar (Be More Chill), Grey Henson (Mean Girls), and many more, all appealing to viewers to get out the vote.
