Broadway history will be made.
Roundabout Theatre Company's Drama Desk Award-winning revival of She Loves Me will make history tonight, when it becomes the first Broadway show ever to be livestreamed for viewing at home. The 8pm performance at Studio 54 will be presented through a partnership with BroadwayHD.
She Loves Me stars Tony Award winner Laura Benanti (Amalia) and Zachary Levi (Georg), alongside Gavin Creel (Kodaly), Tom McGowan (Sipos), Jane Krakowski (Ilona), Nicholas Barasch (Arpad), and Peter Bartlett (Head Waiter). The ensemble is made up of Cameron Adams, Alison Cimmet, Justin Bowen, Preston Truman Boyd, Benjamin Eakeley, Sara Edwards, Michael Fatica, Gina Ferrall, Jenifer Foote, Andrew Kober, Laura Shoop, and Jim Walton.
In the musical, Benanti plays Amalia, a perfume-shop clerk engaged in a battle of wits with her coworker, Georg (Levi). Little do they know that they're also romantic pen pals who happen to be falling for each other. Featuring a score by Sheldon Harnick and Jerry Bock and a book by Joe Masteroff, She Loves Me is inspired by the play Parfumerie by Miklós László. Scott Ellis directs.
The creative team includes David Rockwell (sets), Jeff Mahshie (costumes), Don Holder (lights), Jon Weston (sound), Larry Hochman (orchestrations), and David Krane (dance arrangements and incidental music).
