Watch Raúl Esparza and Ruthie Ann Miles in Scenes From Chess

As part of its Broadway Center Stage series, the Kennedy Center presented a semistaged concert production of Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, and Tim Rice's 1984 musical Chess that ran February 14-18. Now, a video montage of scenes from the production have been released, featuring, among other clips, Raúl Esparza belting "One Night in Bangkok" and Ruthie Ann Miles singing "Someone Else's Story." Directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer, Chess starred Esparza (Company) as Freddie Trumper, Tony winner Miles (The King and I) as Svetlana Sergievsky, Ramin Karimloo (Anastasia) as Anatoly Sergievsky, Tony winner Karen Olivo (West Side Story) as Florence Vassy, Bradley Dean (Dear Evan Hansen) as Ivan Molokov, Sean Allan Krill (Honeymoon in Vegas) as Walter Anderson, and Bryce Pinkham (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder) as the Arbiter.

Chess is described as an "epic rock opera about love and political intrigue set against the backdrop of the Cold War as two superpowers attempt to manipulate an international chess championship for political ends." The original concept album spawned two international hit singles, "I Know Him So Well" and "One Night in Bangkok." The show, which played Broadway in 1988, was presented at Kennedy Center with a new book by Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning writer Danny Strong (Empire).
