New York City
Musical theater stars performed selections from shows including ”Hamilton” and ”Side Show”.
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS presented Broadway Backwards 2018 on April 2 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. As always, the star-studded evening featured performances from Broadway's brightest talents, with a twist: men sing songs originally intended for women, and vice versa.
Check out BC/EFA's videos from the event, at which artists honored the great songs of musical theater while challenging the boundaries and limitations of gender and sexual identity. Funds raised during the evening will go to support Broadway Cares and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in New York City.
Broadway Backwards creator Robert Bartley returned to direct the show. He was joined by Mary-Mitchell Campbell as music supervisor and Laura Bergquist as music director. Choreography was created by Bartley and Adam Roberts.
