Cori Thomas’ edgy comedy will enjoy a second off-Broadway run.
Cori Thomas' play When January Feels Like Summer will have a monthlong return engagement at Ensemble Studio Theatre from October 1-26 following an acclaimed run there this summer.
Presented by the Ensemble Studio Theatre and Women's Project Theater, the play traces the paths of five New Yorkers as they intersect in surprising ways. Touching upon issues of race, class, sexuality, and gender identity, the play is a microcosm of urbanity and the unexpected lessons we learn from our neighbors.
The cast features Debargo Sanyal (Damages), Dion Graham (The Wire), Mahira Kakkar (Harper Regan), Maurice Williams (In Conflict), and newcomer Carter Redwood.
"Any and every New Yorker knows that living here means the strange, surprising, and sometimes magical exchange between strangers," said director Daniella Topol. "Our production captures this energy as five racially and sexually diverse characters collide into and out of one another's lives in comedic and moving ways."
