Goldberg will head under the Big Top on December 6.
Big Apple Circus has announced that Whoopi Goldberg will make a special one-night-only appearance as ringmaster on Wednesday, December 6. Under the Big Top at Lincoln Center‘s Damrosch Park, she will join the show’s 40th anniversary cast of global artists and acts.
Goldberg, who has cohosted ABC's daytime talk show The View since 2007, is one of the few entertainers to have earned an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards. On December 11, she is also slated to star as Applegate in the Roundabout Theatre Company benefit concert reading of Damn Yankees at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre.
The Big Apple Circus's 40th Anniversary season is directed by Mark Lonergan, with choreography and associate direction by Antoinette DiPietropolo and music direction by Rob Slowik. The creative team also includes Tony-winning lighting designer Jeff Croiter, scenic designers Rob Bissinger, and Anita LaScala of ARDA Studio, Inc, and costume designer Amy Clark.
This season’s New York City engagement runs through Sunday, January 7, 2018, and will continue all of the organization’s special community outreach shows. A national tour will launch immediately following the New York engagement.
