The landmark will turn emerald green in honor of ”Wicked”’s 15th anniversary on Broadway.
The Empire State Building will turn emerald green tonight, October 30, in honor of the 15th anniversary of Wicked opening on Broadway.
On hand to flip the switch and commemorate the occasion this afternoon were current Wicked stars Jessica Vosk and Amanda Jane Cooper, who will perform the roles of Elphaba and Glinda during the show's 15th anniversary performance this evening.
Based on the novel of the same name by Gregory Maguire, Wicked is set in the land of Oz and tells the story of young women Glinda and Elphaba, who grow up to become Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West, respectively. Featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.
