
Thompson was among the cast of the show’s world premiere production earlier this spring at the Oriental Theatre, “bringing down the house” with her performance, according to Variety’s review. And while full casting for the Broadway berth, which begins rehearsals August 12, hasn’t been officially announced, her name is conspicuously missing from the show’s website. And then there’s that audition notice, which lists her character as available.
With a score by Tony Award nominee Andrew Lippa and a book by John August, Big Fish is directed and choreographed by multiple Tony winner Susan Stroman. Norbert Leo Butz and Kate Baldwin lead the company of the fanciful new musical, which begins performances at the Neil Simon Theatre on September 5 in advance of an October 6 opening.
