Kushner’s ”Angels in America” and Morisseau’s new musical about The Temptations will be seen.
Berkeley Repertory Theatre has announced its 2017-18 season.
The season kicks off with Dominique Morisseau's new musical Aint Too Proud — The Temptations, a look at the history and rise of the iconic music group, featuring hits like "My Girl," "Just My Imagination," and more. The production features direction by Des McAnuff, choreography by Sergio Trujillo, musical direction, supervision, and arrangements by Kenny Seymour, orchestrations by Harold Wheeler, and songs from the legendary Motown catalogue. Performances start in August.
Also on tap are Daniel Handler's Imaginary Comforts, or the Story of the Ghost of the Dead Rabbit, directed by Tony Taccone (October), Lillian Hellman's Watch on the Rhine, directed by Lisa Peterson (November), Julia Cho's Office Hour directed by Lisa Peterson (February 2018), and Nilaja Sun's Pike Street, directed by Ron Russell (May 2018).
March 2018 will see both parts of Tony Kushner's Angels in America, presented under the direction of Berkeley Rep artistic director Tony Taccone, who codirected the original Los Angeles production at Center Theatre Group 26 years ago.
