Cherry Lane Theatre has announced the three productions that will constitute its upcoming 2013-2014 season. This fall, the theater will present the world premiere of One Night, with previews beginning on October 17 and an opening night on October 30. The play will run through November 24.
Then, from January 7-February 2, Cherry Lane and Barefoot Theatre Company will present Snow Orchid by Joe Pintauro. Valentina Fratti will direct this world premiere of Pintauro’s revised version of his play about an Italian family living in Brooklyn in 1964.
This summer, Cherry Lane Theatre and four other West Village theaters will present Lucy Thurber’s The Hill Town Plays, from August 14-September 28. This cycle of five plays will mark the first annual season of “Theater: Village,” five plays centered around one playwright or theme running simultaneously in five different West Village venues.
In addition, the theater has announced a series of free master classes featuring artists such as playwrights David Henry Hwang (September 9) and Kia Corthron (September 16) and writer/producer/director Matt Williams (November 18). Reservations are required.
Cherry Lane works to develop new American works and provide a home for groundbreaking productions of both new and classic theater. It is New York’s longest continuously running off-Broadway theater.
