Bright Star, a new musical by songwriting partners Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, is among the shows on tap for the 2014-2015 season at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre, the organization has announced.

Featuring music by Brickell and Martin, lyrics by Brickell, and a book by Martin, Bright Star, directed by Walter Bobbie, will begin the season on September 13 and run through November 2. Inspired by Brickell and Martin's Grammy-winning album, Love Has Come for You, the world premiere musical follows a young soldier just home from World War II who, with the editor of a Southern literary journal, discovers a secret that changes their lives.

Also on the Old Globe's slate is the West Coast premiere of Nathan Englander's The Twenty-Seventh Man, directed by Barry Englander and beginning performances February 14, as well as Mary Zimmerman's The White Snake, beginning March 21. Jonathan Tolins' Buyer & Cellar, directed by Ron Lagomarsino, will start on April 4.

Marco Ramirez's new boxing drama, The Royale, will hit the stage on October 4. Kellen Blair and Joe Kinosian's musical Murder for Two will begin performances January 24 under the direction of Scott Schwartz. George Bernard Shaw's Arms and the Man completes the dramatic slate, with performances beginning May 9.

On tap for the holidays is the 17th annual production of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, which starts performances November 15.
