Yank!'s David Zellnik Among Writers Set for York Theatre Company's Reading Series

The York Theatre Company will present four new works during the month of June as part of its acclaimed Developmental Reading Series. All four readings will take place at the York Theatre Company at Saint Peter’s and are open to the public with a suggested donation of $5.

The upcoming plays which will be presented are Orville and Wilbur Did It! (June 1), a play by Yank!'s David Zellnik with songs by Zellnik and Eric Svejcar; Juliet and Juliet (June 9), with book and lyrics by Sean Patterson and music by Natalie Tenenbaum; Elsie Janis and the Boys (June 11), with book and lyrics by Carol Crittenden and music by John T. Prestianni; and Grounded for Life (June 26), with book by Pat Hazell and Bill Habeeb, lyrics by Lawrence Goldberg and Hazell, and music by Goldberg.

The Developmental Reading Series presents some 40 readings and workshops of new musicals by emerging and established authors throughout the year. The series serves as an incubator for shows to be considered for Mainstage productions, thus serving the York's unique mission of taking new musicals through the complete development process to full production.
