David Javerbaum's new Broadway comedy, An Act of God, starring Emmy winner Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), kicked off the 2015-16 Broadway season as it celebrated its opening night on May 28 at Studio 54. Two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello directs the production, which features Parsons as God and Christopher Fitzgerald and Tim Kazurinsky as his angels, Michael and Gabriel.

An Act of God is inspired by the best-selling book The Last Testament: A Memoir by God as well as by author and playwright Javerbaum's Twitter feed, The Tweet of God. The play follows the Almighty and His angels as they answer some of the deepest questions that have plagued mankind since creation.

Guests at the opening-night festivities included Zach Braff (Bullets Over Broadway), Jason Alexander (Fish in the Dark), Raven-Symoné (That's So Raven), and Parsons and Mantello's Normal Heart costar Ellen Barkin, playwright Larry Kramer, and director George C. Wolfe, among others.
