The organization honored the esteemed director at its annual gala.
New York Theatre Workshop honored The Crucible's Ivo van Hove and Jan Versweyveld, as well as NYTW Board of Trustees co-presidents Heather Randall and Noel E.D. Kirnon, at its annual gala, held March 7 at the Edison Ballroom.
The evening featured special tributes from Tony Kushner, Elizabeth Marvel, Stephen Graham, and Alvin Hall, as well as special musical performances from NYTW artists and productions. Benjamin Shaw directed, with musical direction by David Dabbon. A live auction was conducted by C.K. Swett.
Since meeting NYTW artistic director Jim Nicola in 1995, van Hove and Versweyveld have collaborated on several NYTW productions including The Little Foxes, The Misanthrope, Hedda Gabler, Alice in Bed, A Streetcar Named Desire, More Stately Mansions, Scenes From a Marriage, and this season's acclaimed musical Lazarus, written by David Bowie and Enda Walsh. This Broadway season also boasts two of their collaborations — A View From the Bridge and Arthur Miller’s The Crucible.
Randall has served as both president and co-president of NTYW’s Board of Trustees for nine years. Kirnon joined Randall as co-president in 2011 after serving as a member of NYTW’s Board of Trustees since 2007 and becoming treasurer in 2010.
