Theatre 40 presents the world premiere of renowned writer James McLure’s Blue Silence, a modern morality play woven against the backdrop of a police corruption investigation. With more twists and turns than a roller coaster, McLure makes us re-examine our view of honor, truth,
and ultimately, love.
Using the gritty streets of New York City and an investigation of police
corruption as its backdrop, the play centers around Mike Boyle, a
long-time New York career police officer with a reputation for bending,
if not breaking, the rules. When a recent police academy graduate is
placed in his charge, we see through this rookie’s eyes the truth and
consequences of life on the streets in the narcotics division and the
resulting impact it has on everyone’s life. Stephen Tobolowsky directs.
