About the Show

Theresa Rebeck’s version of the classic story follows Ibsen’s plot, but she makes a few modernized tweaks. Nora’s children are cared for by a nanny, her husband’s best friend is in love with her and her marriage is on the rocks. This Nora also has a secret and its revelation will most likely change her life forever. Dollhouse was first commissioned by Connecticut’s Hartford Stage Company to “reset the action from Norway in 1879 to a modern, affluent suburb of Manhattan” for a 2001 premiere production.
