Sara McKeon is a poet and part-time librarian, living in a rarefied stratum of ideas in a large American city. She is brought down to earth when David, an exciting new lover, comes into her life for ten blissful weeks. They begin to make plans to leave the big city for a wonderful new life when he is brutally murdered. Shattered, Sara is determined to find his killer. Along the way, evidence suggests that he might have been involved in kidnapping, rape and murder, which she refuses to believe. In the course of her investigation, some of the people she talks to wind up dead.
