Manhattan Monologue Slam

About the Show

The Manhattan Monologue Slam is simply the best collection of acting talent and panel of judges (industry celebrities, and professionals) gathered for an evening of exciting theatre. It’s not poetry, not spoken word, not performance art, not improv, not storytelling, not stand-up comedy–it’s acting for actors.

The MMSlam returns to Los Angeles for the last Tuesday of June, July and August. Described by many as Masterpiece Theatre meets American Idol, the country’s only theatre slam is produced by MMSlam LLC, Ithaka’s Braxton Pope and Andrew Weiner, hosted by the always spontaneous Galinsky Brothers and features two sets of theatrical action.

Featuring MMSlam Judges: Andy Dick (Actor Less Than Perfect), Sean Elliott (Endeavor Talent Agent), Jenna Fischer (Actor The Office), James Foley (Director Glengarry Glenross), James Gunn (Screenwriter Scooby-Doo), Robert Russell (Warner Bros. Casting Director), and Debra Wilson (Actor “Mad TV”) with a Surprise Guest Performance from an “Entourage” Cast Member.

Set One: The Manhattan Monologue Slam Championship Set — hosted by Robert Galinsky & features ten pre-booked actors performing one three-minute monologue. What’s at stake? The tag of “The Manhattan Monologue Slam Champion,” a sit-down with any one of that evening’s judges for a career consultation, and the challenge of defending the title and trophy in next month’s show.

Set Two: The “30 Second Audience Slam” — hosted by Phillip Galinsky. It’s a lively set of audience/actors who sign-up to perform on the night of the show. Each actor’s performance doubles as entertainment and as an ‘audition’ to perform in the championship set in the next show.
